Shower Thoughts: (noun) Little bits of wisdom through life experience and cold water.
It’s 4:40 am
On a Monday. I rub my eyes, hold my wife, and pray the 5 minutes until my alarm goes off will somehow magically be extended.
Thoughts immediately fire off:
Go back to bed
Why are you doing this?
You don’t want to do this
I did get out of bed, not without struggle. But I knew it was coming. Last week I was sick and broke my routine.
So as I prepared myself Sunday evening, I recommitted to my routine. I wanted to “Show myself what good looked like” once again.
You’re asking the wrong Question
I realize now that was wrong. If you’re asking yourself this, you’re asking the wrong question.
You shouldn’t be asking what good looks like, but what good feels like.
What good feels like
Good is not an Instagram story. It’s not a perfect number on the scale or in your bank account, or any other external picture you can dream up.
Good is a feeling. And it sure as sh** doesn’t always feel good.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, I’m getting back to what good looks like for me this week. That means:
Morning battles against my will
Long, focused workdays
Painful workouts and even more painful stretching and recovery
It’s a disciplined week. And a week full of discipline is a week full of constant internal struggle and resistance.
But for every feeling of struggle that I overcome, I get an even better feeling of satisfaction.
Chase satisfaction.

Setting Intentions
Welcome to Road Warriors, Part 1 - Setting Intentions.
Before the wheels touch down
Your intentions should be set. This is my foundation for being healthy on the road. I make the mental decision to make good health and wellness decisions. Then I chart out my week — I put a plan together for exercise, meditation, and writing.
Traveling, on the most normal day, is unpredictable (even when the doors on your plane don’t fly off). Intentions keep you grounded in what you want when you’re faced with unfamiliar and unpredictable environments.
The trick is…
I’ll tell you next week! Send me a comment on how you prepare for travel. Road Warriors🪖 unite!
