I’m on a mission to put the “Personal” back into Personal Development
Shower thought🚿: Letting go of time.
We’re hours into what will be a 15 hour, 32 mile hike across the Pisgah National Forest. The sun has peaked its head through the trees. The air is getting warmer.
We’ve been slowed down thus far by steep terrain, low visibility, and a few mishaps on our way to the trailhead. The thought finally creeps in..
What if we don’t make it in time?
As we considered how to move a bit faster and “catch up” it hit me —
We’re making up time.
Literally. And figuratively.
We had no where to go but home.
And no deadline to meet. (aside from the motivation to not hike in the dark)
All we needed to do was to keep moving forward.

Why affirmations work and how to create one

Affirmations are fun & cool — Snoop Dogg
I hated despised the idea of affirmations.
”How could they work?” “There’s no use.” “I’m wasting my time.”
I made fun of the idea and silently judged others.
But like the wind, my mindset has since shifted.
I’ve been using affirmations and tracking their results since April 2024.
Why aren’t you uplifting yourself?
Ask yourself that question.
If you’re a generally positive person (which I am), you’re already uplifting and affirming others each day.
Why aren’t you giving this to yourself?
If you can’t believe it for yourself, how can you expect others to believe it?
How to create an affirmation.
Creating an affirmation is simple.
Putting it into practice is difficult.
1. Find your Why.
Jot down your personal mission statement. Why you do what you do.
Every day I give it my all, because when I’m ALL-IN I feel and perform my best, and inspire others around me.
I will trust the process and not focus on the results.
I will authentically create despite my fear of perception
I will be a servant leader to my customers, colleagues, friends, and family.
2. Put it into practice.
Say it in the morning. Say it in the evening.
Say it whenever YOU like.
The key is speaking it aloud. Words have power.
It should feel weird for a while. Practice makes perfect. Over time, you’ll speak louder, more confidently, and your why will become more clear.
